Mailchimp Customer Support Appreciation Week
Mailchimp is an American marketing automation platform and email marketing service.

Every year, Mailchimp celebrates their Customer Support Team by hosting fun events and launching new initiatives.
For Customer Support Appreciation Week 2020, Mailchimp wanted to re-vamp the Customer Support Confluence page. I was tasked with creating a custom-illustrated banner.

I wanted to utilize Mailchimp's brand guidelines, but also make it playful and celebrative for Customer Support Appreciation Week.

I utilized the universal 'information i' since Customer Support is the knowledgebase of the company. I added magnifying glasses to signify Customer Support's search to find the right answer to assist the customer. I used flashlights and lightbulbs to symbolize getting an idea of how to help the customer. I used notebooks to symbolize user manuals. I drew high-fives to symbolize teamwork. I drew greenery to symbolize the growth of the team over the year.

During Customer Support Appreciation Week, Mailchimp launched its new internal Customer Support podcast named Support Cereal. They were looking for a creative way to gain awareness and drive employees to listen to the podcast.

I created a few assets to be used in promotional emails to launch the podcast.

Again, I wanted to utilize Mailchimp's brand guidelines but also bring in a pop of color and illustration to make this launch stand out.

I came up with the idea to create a cereal box based on the name of the podcast, Support Cereal. I added a microphone to the box to represent the recording experience.

I also drew an actual bowl of cereal with the title of the podcast written out in Alpha-Bits cereal style letters to represent the title of the podcast and also throw in some '90s nostalgia.

Since we were working from home during Customer Support Appreciation Week 2020 due to COVID-19, Mailchimp wanted to gift the team with custom Zoom backgrounds to use during live Customer Support Appreciation Week events.

This Zoom background was to be used at the Welcome Event. This was where the organizers ran the team through the events for the week.

I had the idea to use a nice brick background with a fireplace because it felt very "home-y" and I wanted to embrace and acknowledge the fact that we were all working from home. I drew a dog and fish to represent the fact that many of us were at home with our pets. I drew the "CSAW" banner to represent and celebrate Customer Support Appreciation Week,

This Zoom background was to be used in meetings throughout the week.

I had the idea to use a bookshelf because many people already used their bookshelves as a Zoom background, but I wanted to give it the pink and yellow pop of color to match Mailchimp's brand. Again, I added a cat to represent that most of us were at home with our animals. To break up the bright colors, I added greenery.

If you look closely, you'll spot a Freddie! Freddie is Mailchimp's mascot.

This Zoom background was to be used for the Tiny Doors ATL event.

Tiny Doors ATL is an Atlanta-based art project bringing big wonder to tiny spaces in Atlanta and beyond. The 7-inch doors are sculptures created by artist Karen Anderson Singer at the invitation of the neighborhood or institution. They are designed to reflect the spirit, architecture, and other unique elements of the surrounding community. With the installation of a door, what was once a wall or the column of a bridge becomes an entrance to collective creativity and an invitation to wonder. The numbered doors around Atlanta are always free to visit and accessible to people of all ages.

Karen Anderson was invited to give a tutorial via Zoom on how to create our own tiny door using items Mailchimp had shipped to employee's homes.

In my design, I took inspiration from tiny doors that Anderson had already designed throughout the city of Atlanta. I also added greenery to break up the color and, of course, made Customer Support Awareness Week the center of the background.
